Master

by Chelsea   May 23, 2013

The wind whispers softly
for only she knows my secrets
the darkness that resides
so close to the surface

A mere breath tells all
though hidden from the world
but not from him
he sees the little girl

He sees the innocence
everyone has tried so hard to tear away
the face i paste on
to get through each and every day

Dig down deeper inside me
past the walls and locked doors
to the core of the child
who just can't bear the pain anymore

Can you see how i stumble
I trip and then i fall
can you see how i have given up
for i know no one is left to care at all

The wind doesn't catch me
she has long since left my side
my innocence cannot save me
everyone believes it is a lie

And in this moment as i collapse
I see blackness all around
no light to guide my way
nothing meaningful or profound

As the last second dies
and i along with it
i feel a hand reach out
somehow perfectly my fingers fit

Pulling me slowly
back from the end
i see your face now
as the tears begin

I have to know
I have to feel
for though you are here
you cannot be real

My fingertips meet
skin so soft and warm
as a smile touches your lips
i know you will not cause me harm

I feel myself fall
just once more
my eyes locked with yours
as my knees hit the floor

Very interesting, I feel like you are speaking telling the story of a woman who have had some bad experiences in past relationship. I also feel that you might be speaking of a woman who has been abuse; although, I am not sure how to interpret this poem, I fine it very interesting.

    Nice write....AL
