Told Ya We'd Be Together

We've been separated for a month
A long month of tears,
But it's felt longer that that
I swear its been years..

Todays April fools day
The worst day of the year,
But I'll just have to get through it
And face my fear.

When I got the call
that he had taken his life,
I just laughed and asked what with
His knife?

They said no
He used the gun
And I quit laughing
This wasn't much fun.

"OK u got me
You can quit joking" I said,
But they said they weren't joking
“he really is dead”

I hung up the phone
People shouldn't joke about death,
Because I don't know what I'd do if he breathed his last breath.

When they called back to tell
Me he had left a note,
I just sat there and listened to
What he had wrote.

“ couldn't take the pain of living with out her
tell her she's still my love,
and tell her I'll be watching from the heaven's up above.”

“ tell her it's not her fault and
not to take the blame,
and tell her before I died on my arm I carved her name.”

“tell her one last thing,
that I'm always with her in her heart,
and that I only did this because we were apart.”

I sat in silence
Not knowing what to say,
Hoping any minute they would
yell happy April Fool's Day!

But the next week when I saw him laying on his deathbed
I found they weren't lieing to me
He really was dead.

I kissed him one last time
And whispered I love you,
And I also told him we'd be together again very soon.

Afterwards I went home and wrote a short note,
Then took the knife and quietly slit my throat...

We told them our love was true
And that we were meant to be,
And now that we're gone
Maybe they'll just learn to believe…
