Grandma

She never shows up in family pictures anymore.
She's always behind the camera, looking through the screen at the family she will soon lose.

She used to eat all the time,
but now she loses 5-10 pounds a week.

She's spent her whole life trusting her body,
and now her body repays her by failing.

She never got spots in plays and shows,
but now she has three spots on her liver.

The only thing holding her up through her last months, is faith. Belief. God. She and her husband have rosaries, crosses, candles, prayer books, everywhere around her soon-to-be-empty house.

Because of the Lord, she is at peace.

Because of his rain, she has become a rainbow.

My only wish for her is to fly down that rainbow we call life, and finally, when the time comes, to reach her pot of gold.

I love you more than the angel loves her wings.
