Wedding Nightmare

by Daylight Lucidity   Jul 30, 2013

My heart thrummed loudly as I slowly put on the dress
Its delicate, tradirional, ivory color cascading fluidly to the floor;
Intricate patterns and small, twinkling glass beads decorated it
Beautifully. The veil flowing down my back one to be adored.

The knots in my stomach became loose as the bridesmaids bustled about,
I merely hummed to myself as I readjusted and perfected my appearance
It was a busy evening, but precious no doubt
They all smiled, tears in their eyes, my day coming together quickly.

They added the finishing touches, something old and something blue,
I felt my cheeks flush and my eyes prick softly;
The music began to play faintly from the hall, one which I'd walk through soon,
As it summoned me, butterflies erupted in my stomach.

They made their way to the room,
I followed soon after, my face covered in soft lace,
My eyes, though veiled, expected to automatically see you
Under the alter... You weren't there; the smile disappeared from my made-up face.

The murmurs swarmed around me
And said that you ran off
That you couldn't stay here, with me; they said you cried softly
But you never attempted to stop.

I awoke from the dream with a softly yelled cry of despair
But then I felt you stir from beside me
It had just been a dream, our day had yet to come,
You were still there, loving me
Tenderly and unconditionally.

I leaned over and kissed your forehead,
My heart pounding steadily with passion
As I thought about our future ahead
And drifted off into a state of bliss.
