Okay My Body, You Have Won (A Jogger's Plight)

by Selfrejected   Aug 11, 2013

My time
It's leaking from within me
Cuts I left for it to escape
Birthdays come so quickly
But these aches they never seem to dissipate
I try so hard to hold it together
I try so hard to fight you
To push one more mile
To get up this hill

Please tonight
Just tonight
Don't fall apart now

The wind caress me ever so gently
I give it a loving breath
As I take a lunge forward
The night sky, my void of thought
My sweet escape from daily constraints
Then you crackle and creak
You scream agony!
This used to be so easy
You thrived for these moments
Now you struggle to meet me
You're so weak and sickly
All these scars you've grown
They've come back to haunt you

Please tonight
Just tonight
Don't fall apart now
I'll take pills and ice you
I can see the top of the hill
On this last night
Oh, my jogger's plight
