You are My Wish

by Daylight Lucidity   Sep 12, 2013

Do you sense that?
Can you feel the heat emanating
From the fire you started in a soul
So dry and withered; do you hear
A rhythm in a frail chest,
One that shelters a heart that beats
Painfully against cracked ribs?
Can you decipher the cryptic emotions
In the eyes that search around you
But yet, never leave yours; or have you
Put together the puzzle that shows my love for you?

Stargazing upon a rooftop on an oddly humid night,
A falling star shot across the onyx, velvet sky.
Hurriedly, I closed my tear-filled eyes and wished
Harder than I have ever wished before.
My silent wish blew away with a timely breeze,
Leaving me with my thoughts and hopes and shattered dreams,
But something stirred in the bottom of my heart.
It urged me to lift my chin and stare into the night,
It whispered to me to really open my eyes,
It lifted my head high towards the moon's light
And promised me a beautiful surprise.

I obeyed the feeling, the persistent tingling and fluttering in my stomach,
As my eyes adjusted to the newly risen moon,
My heart flew out of my chest, my eyes poured tears
Because it was at that moment, my life was complete,

I saw her.

Her smile was soft and welcoming from upon the surface of the moon,
An angel whose eyes sparkled more beautifully than
The biggest, most flawless diamond.
For the first time, a euphoria spread
Through my limbs and newly resurrected heart,
Love immediately nestling comfortably in my chest
And resonating in my mind.
I knew in that instance, in that first glance,
I loved her, and that my wish came true that night.

I'd wished for a happiness so pure and full of love and life,
And now that I peered into her beautiful, depthless eyes,

I know that I wished on the perfect night and perfect star.
