I notice everything
about you.
I notice the way you're eyes light up
when I make you laugh.
I notice the way you stare at me with sorrow
when I'm too upset to talk to anyone.
I notice the way you genuinely smile
every time we have a poke battle.
I also notice the
not-so-happy aspects of you,
the things even fewer see.
I've noticed that you've
started to talk a little less
and just watch.
I notice the pain in your eyes
when you smile.
I notice that when you think
nobody is watching you,
you look so very sad.
I notice the tears in your eyes
when you look away.
I notice the fake smiles
and fake laughs.
I notice that you flinch
when someone brings up
a certain subject.
I noticed the day you wore long sleeves
when it was 95 degrees out
and the next day
I noticed the three slits
on your right wrist.
I noticed the tears in your eyes
when I asked if you were okay.
I notice that you are so very unhappy,
but you keep it all to yourself.
