Dear Government a letter of angst

Dear Government
1 in 10 children under the age of 15 supposedly suffer from a mental health disorder.
These are the statistics that you believe.
But you do not see, what we ourselves see.

The girl at our left, smiling happily,
Scars on her body, she despairingly hides.
The jesting boy, merry to behold,
Whimpers in the dark he feels all alone.

Reading her book calmness is her pride,
Screaming at the world behind her cold eyes.

Autism is rife to the boy avid to learn.
Hapless he struggles for an escape from his cage.

In a classroom of 30 you suggest only three,
But you do not count those, that we ourselves see.
So stop implying a mental health disorder thus,
that a social stigma inevitably is attached.

We see the scars, the tears, and the pain.
We see a childhood, where adults acted in vain.

In this class of 30, One is easily lost,
Whom like ourselves silently wept for help.

Faithfully, we who were the forfeit.
