When you learn to live alone

I've fallen victim to sadness
depsair tearing at my heels
as I drag my feet through the sand
along the river bed
I can taste the air from spring
when I asked you to marry me
it feels like a week ago
now I stand here alone as we slowly fall apart
it's been so long we've held our love
we grew up in each other's arms
I know nothing but you
each season calls your name
I'd race home to hold your hand
now I won't hold anything at all
I'll miss you till I sleep
and if I never wake
I'll still miss you even more.
