She Held My Hand

by Gary R Priester   Sep 30, 2013

I walked alone
A wounded young man

I had given my heart
To have it broken within

But now I was wise
It would not happen again

I would play the field
But shield my heart from them

They could love me
But I would never need them

Deceive them I would
To walk away time and again

Happy I was
Facing life with a grin

No worries for me
Like a stone in the wind

Then I opened a new door
To play the field once again

A room full of beauties
Where would I begin?

Then I saw her
And I boldly moved in

But something was wrong
Gone was my grin

When she held my hand
My heart healed within

It opened
And my new life began

The day I met my wife
