LOVE IN THEORY AND PRACTICE

by Boitumelo   Oct 7, 2013

How many sleepless nights do I spend Counting stars till I stop counting zeroes When the stars descend on my blinking eyes And spread the love of my tears in my sight

In the dark what do I hope to reach for, except trade my visions with the mind and brood countless pleasures

The whims of my fantasies betray the reality surrounding my space
pulling in its orbit every depth of my heart's wishes and through thought conveying sightless streams of dreams
Beautiful in every length, width and breadth, reality and fantasy alike,
sadly the price we pay and the chance we must take

This is my universe I can count my lucky stars just as long as it doesn't kill a man
I may step into the frame of your mind and not feel guilty of trespassing
Turn you into my mental slave and have you perform all the odd jobs of love and romance But I will still walk away from you and leave you unhinged
What's more with words I say to you that I can't retract
the lips that say them mortgaged
The heart has gambled with the soul what the body can't give
yet pay for with agony and pain and with a new leaf passion and pleasure
