The soldiers

by rebecca bray   Feb 2, 2014

One by one the soldiers marched
injuries both mental and physical
crippling them as the continued
no one stopped for a second
nobody cared when a man collapsed
they didn't even notice him
they didn't even notice me
marching forward without a glance back
vultures started circling above
waiting for us to drop
sadness and disappointment
washing over my body as I'm left behind
