Late Night Thoughts

by Stargirl   Feb 5, 2014

Amidst the night, the poet's mind awakes
The ghost of you stands out
Among all my demons
Each time the moon passes when you're not around,
I try to bury you in the back of my head
And each time the sun rises when I see you,
I know I'm back to zero
God knows how much I want you
And God knows that I cannot have you
Every single day I know I have to live with the conflict in my chest
Between the gnawing desire to hold you
And the silence that saves what we have right now

Amidst the night, the poet's mind awakes
    = awakens

    another great write.

I really like your ending in particular with your word choice, gnawing is such a powerful word and you used it well. And the silence to end the poem with relates really well to your message and the longing and desperation for this person's love.

I also like all the night time imagery. Worked well with your theme and your title.

    Good job
