Monsters Under the Bed.

by HappieMappie   Feb 19, 2014

Fear bolting through me
I can't ever rest
I can sense it beneath me
An unwelcome guest

Mommy and Daddy won't listen
It's just a silly dream
But they aren't to blame
For the things unseen

The roaring underneath
Shakes my night light
Paranoid of the dark
I hold it tight

But the attempt is futile
It flickers out
Hopelessly rushing toward locked door
My only route

I shut my eyes
And block out the sound
But my head throbs
And heart pounds

A tickling sensation
Splashes over my skin
Decapitated hands
Groping my shins

I feel my ankles slip
I'm dragged underground
Violently spinning and twisting
An all-out merry-go-round.

Unconsciousness overcomes me
Now arising back in bed
The nightmare is over
But my hands cry red

They're sure to question
The scars they left behind
Every day they multiply
From terrors each night
