NEVER COMING BACK

by Jena   Feb 22, 2014

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

I walked down to the casket in which he lay
And I was surprised I didn't feel anything at all.
Everyone around me was shedding tears
Everyone looked so grim and sad.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

Later I made my way down to the gym locker room
Where you were always certain to find him after school.
I totally knew today he wasn't going to be there,
For the ships have already come to carry him away forever.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

I enter the locker room slowly
And I find I am alone with myself.
Then I suddenly open my mouths as if to scream his name
But some writing on a table stops me mid way.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

My eyes scan the words in permanent marker on the table,
Taking me back to the place where Luck was still alive.
Where he sat there writing on the wood
Half joking he'd write my name there to if I told.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

I slowly come back to reality
As I sink into one the wooden chairs.
A single tear escapes my eye
But I don't notice it at all.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

It suddenly hits me like a ton of bricks
That he is actually gone for good.
I would never be able to answer his question,
I'd never be able to say I loved him too.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.

I am now finally able to cry
Feeling utterly miserable inside.
My heart has just shattered into a million pieces
And I feel like I will never be cheerful again.

Today is the day he went away
Today is the day he's never, no never coming back.
