Devil by the Dumpster

by Andrew Packard   Mar 2, 2014

"Devil by the Dumpster"

The stench of rank rotten food
hovers low surrounding the ground
creates a sickening sinking mood
of garbage and filth and scum swirling round

A lifeless figure lay in front of the refuse container
The clip clop of a horse going by
two big hairy hooves circle the dumpster
arousing the drunken slob to open eye

Adrenaline shoots through his 'shit face'
as he gasps alcoholic breath
Disbelief, raw fear and horror embrace
as he stares into the fiery eyes of Death

His body wretches and convulses
at the sight of the Horned God.
The black form supernaturally snatches
and attempts to throw him into the pod!

The damned soul devoid of virtue
Thought quickly what to do
a convincing voice, "The Devil isn't Real....
Just make a freaking deal!"

Evil didn't have to say a word
inside your head it's thoughts are heard

"Bring me your first born,
your favorite one
or even your estranged wife...
and I shall spare your pitiful pathetic life!"

next scene Luke warm-ly on his knees
begging searching, "God oh please!"
Shook it off the next night
everything seemed alright.

Celebrating out with family and friends
A new resolution, has made amends
"Honey are you alright?"
"Why don't you let me take the keys tonight?"

Carelessly rejecting Grace's gesture
squealing away, tires spin
as they climb into the future burial chamber
Blacking out the hazy dumpster bargain.

Driving home he notices nothing out of the norm
He doesn't see the shadowy pitch black form
Heedlessly dismissing the historic specter
Unable to recall sleep like nothing the matter

Still early in the morning he does wake
Yawning gratifying long hard stretch
cleaning up retribution, out the garbage Hell take
Opens the lid to the dumpster, turns his head to the stench

Drawing away the lid falls with a slam...
Illuminating witness, a portal to Hell
Writhing bloody bodies of the damned
Ignorant naive souls to sell.
