Where I'm From (written as a school project)

by Haley Elizabeth   Mar 11, 2014

I am from spades,
from Pine-sol and sodium hydrochlorite
I am from the flower beds
(green,full,
smelling like flowers)
I am from the spotted lilies
the miniature weeping willow
whose branches hang low

I'm from Sunday dinner and artistic abilities
from Isabella and Joe
I'm from the hard workers,
and the re-constructers
from you look like mom! and look both ways!
I'm from I'll try to go on Sunday,
I won't talk about it,
and nobody tells me what to believe.

I'm from Merrill and lucky leprechauns
scrambled eggs and strong coffee
I'm from the reason behind Joeann's name,
the day she came home after sickness.

Collages upon the walls,
full of cut out faces.
Old memories
for all to see,
some of birthdays,
some of holidays,
all never forgotten.
