If only I had known
the sorrow she had sown;
the betrayals I would face,
that my own would set the pace

Could I have walked away from it
all, alone?

Could I have left home;
understood how much I was shown?

Would I have had the courage
to set my shoulders and do what's right?

Or would I have held you tight
and stayed there in fright?

Would I have had the strength, the might
to acknowledge the wrong, to fight my fight?

I've always said that I'm a coward;
Is that why she put it in my hands, gave me the power?

Did she think I would keep her secret forever?

Or did she want it out; wanted to be spared the
terror?
