One-Sided Love

by Maria   Mar 22, 2014

I say I'm not beautiful
you insist that I'm wrong.
You comfort me
by kissing my forehead softly
and whispering in my ear
those words every girl longs to hear
''You are the most beautiful
girl that has ever existed''
If it was someone else
I bet she'd be mesmerized
by your enchanting words
and your psychedelic kiss;
But I, known for my disbelief,
am aware that you love another
and that I could never replace her
as much as I tried
I say I'm not beautiful
you insist that I'm wrong
But I know your definition of beauty well
and it's a summary of all she's ever done
all she's ever said
and all she will do and say
until you reach the age
when you will not remember who she is.
She's a cup size bigger than me,
she wears shorter skirts than I do,
she's a little bit taller than me
and thinner too.
She has a wide smile
and a seductive look
which has everyone falling for her
including you;
She walks like summer
and cries like rain
her body is not covered in repulsive scars
countless bruises
disgusting gashes
and open wounds
she does not need you
and that's why you need her
she's not me
she is nothing like me
she's by far better than me
so please, don't tell me
that I actually am beautiful
because I've been here for you
all along,
right before your charming blue eyes
but all they see is someone I can't compete with.
