A Flame

by Court   Mar 22, 2014

A secret life
hidden away
never shown
the light of day

anger, hatred
seething rage
all this evil
sets the stage

the light keeps flickering
the light still fights
slowly losing
these passing nights

flame rekindles
all's not lost
the warmth returns
and melts the frost

but evil cackles
it dims the flame
this beautiful creature
it wants to tame

which will win?
Which will fight?
The evil master?
the light in the night?

Stone was broken
the light unbound
some way, some how
he'll win the crown

evil falls
the dark recedes
not all is perfect
the beast still leaves

Happy endings?
none exist
but happy moments?
Those of bliss?

Those we find
those we grasp
always wishing
holding fast

so hold, young flame
the night will end
and in its absence
your life begins.

    OH MY GOODNESS!!!

This is getting added to one of my favorite poems.

The vividness of this poem swirled throughout my mind creating such imagery with each word I read. You can add this to dark/horror topics instead of misc if you wanted to it surely fits in that category.

I am wowed by this poem, you are truly a good poet and deserve much praise for your work. This one could be made into a song I feel even.

    Awesome work.

Oh wow, that reaction made me blush. :)
There are a few poems on here that were inspired by and intended to help a friend of mine. They Have to be powerful to break through to him, and I try to keep reoccurring themes in them. Thank you Very much for the praise.
