Steps Taken

by Chris Swiderski   Mar 26, 2014

I dance today
Between the white and the grey
of the lives I have lived with
Never giving in
But always giving up

Beginning to begin
Just to start over again
Mixing my thoughts
Like cream in coffee
Ever so upbeat
While still feeling so awfully

I've lied through my teeth for so long
They've shattered under the pressure
of my wasted words

Senseless speech
Used to teach deception
Misdirecting my steps
In this faulty waltz
of woe and worry

Hurried ever quicker
By the torturer's tango
The mangled menace that's led us
Blindly, to his poisoned promise

Faster still, do I duet
With this Satan sing-a-long
The tempter's sinful samba
Searing my heart's every beat

Feel free
To step in for me
Though do be mindful
of just where I'm headed

"Duet with Satan sing along" --------- Ohhh you are a creative delight!! LOVE IT!!

This poem is very deep and I try not to pick poems such as this apart.. all I can say is I have paired up with "Satan" and danced a time or two in my lifetime.. and I can truly relate to this piece!

Hehe While I do march to the beat of a different drum these days, I believe we've all jived to a jingle or two from his mischievous orchestra. Glad you enjoyed it!
