Don't take life for granted

by leilani   Apr 8, 2014

People hear the saying enjoy what you have in life before its too late,
Yet they always are too blind to see what they have is great.
They obsess over the best cloths and jewels,
They over look things thinking they are not cool.

Few people ever really enjoy life and try to warn the others,
But they never listen they don't even bother.
Then something happens to one of those precious in life,
Like when a husband loses his wife.
Then he realizes how much he took her presence for granted,
Then he wishes he could have more time to see her delighted.

Maybe a girl screams at her mother for not buying what was "cool",
The same day she dies in a crash then can't even go through a day of school.
And all because of the regret she felt for not showing her gratitude,
For not receiving her mother's gift with a grateful attitude.
She should have been happy her mother loved enough to buy her something,
But instead she treated her mother like she meant nothing.

Why? Why are people so ungrateful?
Thinking they need to have the best to be happy is pitiful.
Why do they always have to learn the hard way?
Sticking to their beliefs until everything they ever loved goes away.

The only way to learn is to have what they love the most torn from their soul,
They always learn the hard way and then have nothing to hold.
Please take this poem as a final warning to get things right,
Don't let what's important out of your sight.

Please before your life is full of regrets as heavy as granite,
Before it's destroyed don't take life for granted.
