I Loved You Once

by XxxWordsOfWisdomxxX   May 17, 2014

Cheeks that flush,
Burning red.
Once from love,
Now pale and dead.
He looks her over,
Sleeping still.
She wants to wake,
But never will.
Fingers brush,
Elastic skin.
Warmth he'll never,
Feel again.
Hands crossed tight,
Over chest.
Finally able,
To find some rest.
Though now here's he,
Eyes wide open.
Remembering the girl,
He loved was broken.
One last kiss,
On frozen lips.
He stands alone,
With emptiness.
Coffin closed,
Pushed beneath.
While down below,
He hears her weep;
"I loved you once,
I love you still.
I always have,
I always will."
