Only Me

by shadow   May 21, 2014

The moon shines its light upon my back,
Drowning this path in dancing shadows.
The wind blowing gently across my face,
As I walk through these endless meadows.

Drunken thoughts of yesterdays,
Flashing their sadness all around me.
I try to concentrate on my surroundings,
But this wind cannot set my pain free.

The crickets chirp promises of happiness,
As stars scatter upon the dark black sky.
I stop to calm the whirlwind inside me,
But it only seems to build up the more I try.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature,
The moon and stars and windy meadows,
Such a wonderful sight that I see,
Until the last of this fairy dust settles.

Then the true picture comes into focus,
And I can finally see.
Once the tears melt away the beauty,
Here, it is only me.
