A titanic loss

by chloe hopwell   Jun 11, 2014

Now let us go back some 98 years,
To a frightful memory
Was alone stuck on a lonely ship,
Was afraid and out at sea.

The Captain sailed at maximum speed,
He crashed right into the ice.
Looked out and saw a most daunting hole,
The ship had taken a slice.

Icy cold water starts gushing in
"Close the portholes" someone said.
"Help us, help us. Just please let us out."
Another's voice full off dread.

"Get 1st class women and children off first,
Just please keep lifebelts on now,"
I heard a husky distant voice yell
"Remember I showed you how."

"Wait but wait they are only half full
Said another helplessly,
"Come on; get in you poor little soul
Bye-bye to your dear daddy."

As I sit here my thoughts full of pain
Death, despair and disorder.
I think of those who walk the world no more,
Those that shall never wander.
