Sweet Denial

by Jeff Weiner   Jun 16, 2014

Loneliness runs deep
While fear is shallow,
Fear of loneliness
Is a deep wound,

Healing is a slow process
That may never be complete,
Acceptance is bitter
When denial seems sweet

Life turns us in circles
Like a pup after his tail
I've been here before
Heartache doomed to repeat

Decisions made yesterday
Pushing us into today,
Running scared from tomorrow
The feelings I cannot defeat

My heart, a merry-go-round
My mind your memory controls
When time becomes my friend
Then the heartaches will end.

This is a great poem which sums up life! I love the contrast between the good and bad- how things happen but then tomorrow still comes and we have to get on with life.

I also like your metaphors and descriptions, the dog chasing its tail for circles is my favourite!

Many people will relate to the fear of love here, of what it can bring. Very honest poem. It is what it is.

    Nice job

Thank you so much, its nice when people understand the back meanings and see what was projected.
