Beautifully penned Larry, a clear distinction between who you were and where you are at now with your writing/words. Like you have now come to the point where being straightforward is what needs to be done, no more covering meanings up or dressing them up so to speak. I feel that I have and sometimes do have to reflect whether or not I want to use a lot of metaphors or imagery, or if I want to directly say what I mean. Sometimes that simplicity can be the most moving and meaningful, especially if it can be interpreted many ways and apply to other areas in life.

I was going around in search of a good read in this category and saw this. How true this is. We do change from what we have been to what we have to be now. No more flowery words but straight to the point and honest!

Oh! this did bring a smile to my face. How we thought we knew it all back in the day haha!!! I just missed out on the true hippy era but...my age group still spoke with 'flowers' in our mouths LOL! My favourite pastime then was to analyse all lyrics by Neil Young and various artists of this genre...do you remember bootleg LP's ?Boy was it cool to own one of those...I had a double by Led Zeppelin...a group I wasn't too fond of but...the orange and turquoise vinyl was to die for :)

The second stanza well...true, it is nice just to be able to straight talk but...sometimes...sigh LOL

Just read through at least 20 of your poems (easily, I might add, because they're absorbing) and this poem sums up everything about your writing. To the point. So to the point that it takes me off guard sometimes and I'm forced to rethink everything.
