Too close to touch
Too far to feel
Veins filled with poison
Happiness ain't real

A rat in a cage
Poet and thief
Drowning in hope
Psychotic belief?

Waging these wars
Even in sleep
There is no remedy
For secrets we keep

There is no cure
For the broken apart
This thing we call love
Truly, black art

Stumbled upon it
Never the same
When good is all gone
There's nothing but shame

Nothing but pain
For what was once there
Hollow and empty
Fully aware

Hurts a bit more
While you watch it dissolve
Realize there's nothing
Just hearts to absolve

Very fast flow, I liked it, I always enjoy fast and choppy poetry when it is written well, and you have used some good rhyming words in here that work well for me.

I think the poem content itself is very good, very easy to relate to and I love again the metaphors you use to show us how you feel, like being the rat in the cage.

My favourite line was probably when you said there is no remedy for secrets we keep, that really jumped out at me, and I would love to see a poem about this line itself, what secret are you holding and what has it done to you.

    Very good work.
