A love from the abyss (Titanic movie tribute)

by Masked metaphor   Aug 15, 2014

Her heart remains submerged
On the eerie dark depths
Of the Atlantic oceans icy bed.

Catacombs in the sunken wreck
All her memories lay trapped
Sacred and fragile like jewels found in a treasure chest.

Although she survived
Her heart froze and sunk to the oceans end, embraced around the icy corpse of her true love Jack Dawson.

'I will never let go'
A promise, a key to motivation
That moved her onto that lifeboats safety net.

Without him her life is a musical without music, a diamond without its sheer elegance, a perfume without a scent...

As the years sprinkle through her frail hands like the sifting of sands,
Her memories envelope her in a cascade of nostalgic lands.

The titanic began as a continued prison sentence as riches and high class suffocated her wants, needs and desires...

Until she was saved by this 'third class' knight in shining armour that lifted her up and let her fly over the vast rippling oceanic scene.

He became her reason to live
Illustrating her life from boredom to bliss
Crafting new possibilities on this ship of dreams and endless fantasies.

Inseparable against all odds as a raging fiance, bodyguards, family, status and class intermingled a ever strong connection of true romance.

An iceberg sliced their entwined hearts apart as they were among thousands of people who closed their eyes for the last time, swallowed up in the vicious watery nets, suction in their early graves.

Yet she survived,
Her heart beating among the frozen and lost...

Her frosty tears emanate in the centre of a voyage of chaos, as she lays in the stillness waiting, for a hope that was wiped away.

As 102 years decay into ancient scrolls of history, her love for him is still embossed on the etches of her heart, an endless love that tragedy will never erase.

    "Her heart remains submerged
    On the eerie dark depths
Of the Atlantic oceans icy bed."

    "Catacombs in the sunken wreck
    All her memories lay trapped
Sacred and fragile like jewels found in a treasure chest."

These first two stanzas are very interesting and really heartfelt. True to the story of the movie. I loved the usage of the words you pieced together explaining how her heart and memories still lie with the ship as her one true love lays beneath the watery depths as well holding the key to her heart.. very good metaphors and wording.

    "'I will never let go'
A promise, a key to motivation
That moved her onto that lifeboats safety net."

"Without him her life is a musical without music, a diamond without its sheer elegance, a perfume without a scent..."

These next two are holding true to the promise she left with jack, a promise she will live and abide by even if it seems to be a struggle to move on and push past the love she once had with that artist among-st the RMS. This is relate-able for people who have lost a loved one or have lost a relationship which holds so much love within it, you do feel as if life has no meaning, kinda like life is a musical without music, a diamond without its sheer elegance, a perfume without a scent... Great way to explain these deep seeded feelings.

"The titanic began as a continued prison sentence as riches and high class suffocated her wants, needs and desires..."

This stanza holds many truths I mean I am not high society or anything but we all have standards and "rules" that we have got to live by and sometimes it feels like these things are suffocating us to the point of no return.

"Until she was saved by this 'third class' knight in shining armour that lifted her up and let her fly over the vast rippling oceanic scene."

The imagery and metaphor here is so beautiful depicted.. So profound and sincere in a sense of a new life, a breath of fresh air kind of like when we find that one special person who can change our world completely around.

"He became her reason to live
Illustrating her life from boredom to bliss
Crafting new possibilities on this ship of dreams and endless fantasies."

This stanza has stuck with me because I am able to relate to it, the girl I am involved with has done the exact thing for me as you explained what Jack has done for Rose.

"An iceberg sliced their entwined hearts apart as they were among thousands of people who closed their eyes for the last time, swallowed up in the vicious watery nets, suction in their early graves."

I love this part, "an iceberg sliced their entwined hearts apart." So deep and so strong, because if that hadn't have happened we'd have been able to see this storybook romance actually last and how beautiful would have that been? You captured the ache so well within this stanza.

    "Yet she survived,
Her heart beating among the frozen and lost..."

I truly love your use of vocabulary again you truly are a master at piecing together a poem with such strong words to give the poem so much power and emotion. It is beautiful and always awe inspiring to read your work

"As 102 years decay into ancient scrolls of history, her love for him is still embossed on the etches of her heart, an endless love that tragedy will never erase."

A beautiful ending which comes full circle from the beginning, you always seem to surprise me with your work. truly a gift from God you've got here, never stop writing and being a Titanic fan myself I loved every moment of this piece easily being able to imagine it playing within my head.
