Letter to Heaven... (The Loss of a Dog)

by Liam Lambie   Aug 18, 2014

Dear Father up in Heaven, I hope this letter finds you well.
excuse my dodge grammar and all the words i may misspell.
I must ask you for a favor and I hope you can oblige
can you meet my best friend on the day she does arrive?

I know you must be busy with all the things you have to do,
but if you can , could you please spare just one moment or two.
She's never been without me Lord, as I'm sure you know.
but I know the time has come and now I have to let her go.
The fact I need this favor breaks my very heart
because since the day I meet her we've never been apart.

They say her bodies giving up and she's to weak to go on...
and I know it wont be long now til my best friend is gone.
Her smile will fade to nothing and she'll loose the twinkle from her eye
she'll be gone within an instant.... just like that she'll die.

I fear she may be scared without me right there by her side...
that she may be lonely once she's crossed the great divide...
So please Lord, if you can pop by to say hello,
tell her that the hardest thing was having to let her go.
Tell her that I love her and I always will...
Tell her that until the day I die , I will love her still...

Best friends are hard to come by and Father she was mine...
I only wish that she could stay and we had a bit more time.
She saw me through my good times and she chased away the bad...
she's truly been the best friend anyone has ever had...

So thank you for her friendship, It was the best thing I've been given...
So Please come meet my Best friend when she arrives in Heaven.
