Grades Over Life (Day 4)

by WritingtheStars   Dec 5, 2014

The world is falling apart
and you're yelling about grades.

Life seems to be falling apart,
not just for me,
but everyone around,
it seems,
and you're fixated on a letter
on a piece of paper.

You say to get good grades,
go to college,
get a job,
then i can fix my life,
fix my world.

But why can't I change the world now,
so I can actually enjoy it
every once in a while,
instead of waiting
until it's much too late?

I'm suffocating here
and you're calling me stupid,
telling me to just breathe.

I'm dying
and they just don't care.

    So true.
Parents are just bothered about grades and nothing else.( well I guess you are addressing your parents here).

I think you should add 'they' in the last line of your poem.
    "I'm dying
    and they just don't care."

I love how you describe grades as "a letter on a piece of paper."

Well done.Being a student my self, I can relate so much to you.

    Keep writing.
