Mirror Image

by Beautiful Tragedy   Jan 28, 2015

I look in the mirror thinking "what do they see?"
Not knowing what to think about the image staring back at me.
They all say "your pretty" they all say they care,
But only one person has ever made it clear that they are there.
He said "nothing is broken beyond repair" he said "You need to work on you" "I don't want you to think your worthless" he continued,
"Because we both know you're not" And for the first time in a long time, I actually would have fought. "You are cared about" he said "You are not a freak." but every time I looked in the mirror,
I knew he couldn't see that I was weak.
But he was, is my strength in this screwed up world,
Something I really hate to admit, I know that he cares about me,
And in some way, it makes me want to throw a fit.
"You have potential, You are full of worth." statements I'm not used to, I've been an outcast since birth.
But when he's around my courage falters,
And then I start to see; the questions I kept asking myself
'Are they afraid of my past, or afraid of me?'
But that doesn't seem to matter; because he made me realize
That every time I look in the mirror, I start to like my mirror image a little more.......
And it's not much.. but it's a start.
