Nothing left

by Joe Moore   Jul 6, 2004

I fought for the fortune
until the money killed my will
I fought for the fame
till the tabloids gave me chills

I fought for the family
till my kids grew up and left home
I fought for my wife
till she tired and left me alone

I have fought till I have nothing left
and my soul can fight no more
so I give this fight to the father
because who can better fight this war

I fought to be a good son
till my mom dictated everything
i fought for the song in my heart
till my songbird didn't want to sing

i fight for the simple life
but scared complexity would win
seems the smoother the road
the deeper i make my sins

I have fought till I have nothing left
and my soul can fight no more
so I give this fight to the father
because who can better fight this war
