The stare

by jacob mathews   Apr 17, 2015

Sitting in the big bright hall
where dreams are forged and made
there is but one dark, black spot
from where a man in a dungeon stared

there was beauty, laughter and joy all around
ethereal nymphs danced about
but the man trapped in his cold, hard shell
hurt n hurt till his heart was frail

oh!!the insanity of all this
the joy at a hands reach, yet so far away
he cried and screamed till his mind was aflame
yet no one seemed to hear or care

his mind was raped by a hundred demons
caught in the dragons blaze
trapped in this dark, cold crypt of hell
at all the beauty around, the man just stared

for a look, a smile, a touch or a kind word he longed
he willed for an angel to break his bonds
but all they saw was a forbidding hard man
who sat on his perch with a cold, dead stare

from lack of talk and love his humanity faded
from costant struggle, his heart was scarred and jaded
his prison became home, his anguish hate
he despised all who had not cared

like a silent pestilence in the land of angels
like a spark of fire in an autumn glade
with a dead heart and poisonous mind
from atop the perch a demon stared

P.s- please lemme know what u think...thanks for reading
