Reconsidering

by Brookie   Apr 21, 2015

As the the sweat rolls down my neck i reconsider
all the thoughts that have made me who i was,
happiness isn't some drug being pumped into you
through an IV stuck in your arm from late night sins;

It's the thrill you get from taking hold of the sword
that your demons have hidden called 'your life'
and swinging it as you yell at the top of your lungs
'take back', and smirking as you remain victorious.

But still I make mistakes and I still fail everyday,
the biggest difference now is that i have friends
who will lend me their arms to fight my demons
when I'm to weak to even open my eyes to them.

I think that's where i find the most happiness,
in the people I lay my head on when I rest
and who kiss my tears as they fall down too fast
for me to catch as my nightmares turn to dreams.

I'm only afraid the dream will fade and you won't be there.

......

I was really unfocused and it shows. I hope you still enjoy

    - wow - i read this line once, then had to read it again! I love this idea, especially when you feel so low and people are forever telling you to just be happy... like it is something you can "hook up to".

    Great opening stanza!

when im to weak to even open my eyes to them.

    - I'm

and who kiss my tears as they fall down to fast

    - too = as in too much.

Im only afriad the dream will fade and you wont be there.

    - I'm
    - afraid
    - won't

You also need to capitalise your Is throughout the poem.

Other than the errors in your punctuation, I like the poem, I like the message of it, and the honesty of being in a place where you are really trying to be happy but are struggling some days. We can all relate to this, and I think it is good you are writing about it and trying to show that you have support around you, and for that you are grateful.

    Nice work.

I did enjoy this one (: Definitely going to my favorites (: Such honest thoughts (: This is exactly what I am feeling now -- the fear that you will lose the important friends in your life. Friends accept you for who you are and they help you out with everything, it will really be heartbreaking when they are no longer there for you. Hmm .. Friends are important .. Don't know if the small ' I's ' are intended to state how lowly you think of yourself .. ' Afriad ' on the last line must be ' Afraid ' .. Other than that, I really love the opening part, the thoughts of reconsideration are just striking and hit your heart. I think, at some point, we must somehow reconsider everything in this life. I also like the the ending line, so much like something Athazagoragobic .. Great job here (:
