My Sweet Soldier

I Sleep next to your picture every night
and pray to god that you are okay,
so that in the morning when I awake
I can be strong enough to live without you another day.
In my heart there is only you,
and I cant imagine my life without you near...
I just hope you come back soon,
so that I wont keep living life in fear.
as time goes by, as it surely must do
my days seem to get a little longer...
and I cant do anything else,
but hope to be a little stronger.
I dream each night of your return,
and I feel your kisses and your hug...
but when I open my eyes,
there's nothing there to fill my heart.
outside this lonely room,
everyone has something to say...
"Just a few make it back,
you're too young to worry and live your life this way"
and with tears in my eyes I respond
"He will return to me, I Can feel it in my heart,
God puts him in my dreams each night,
so that I can feel his touch while were apart.
He will bring us back together ,
and I will wait for that special day...
when My sweet Soldier
returns from war to stay.

    First I want to thank you for your comment on :Through a soldiers eyes" and second, I loved your poem, especially this line:
