Talk is cheap

by Jay Colon   Oct 18, 2015

Always quick to tell me not to leave
always saying how you unintentionally hurt me
without you understanding
or trying to put yourself in my shoes

you try to explain your intentions
it's not the thought that counts
not even your actions
it's not about coming to an agreement

here is why

it doesn't matter who's wrong or right
it's acknowledging the pain inflicted
most importantly understanding my feelings

your intentions matter less
you don't experience the consequences
I experience the consequences of your actions

don't try to explain yourself

I'm tired of hearing all your excuses
or how you never intended to hurt me
Intentions don't excuse the hurt
they don't make it go away

you always know what your intentions are
intentions have a conscious purpose
you may never wanted to hurt me
you did intend to leave

you've been all talk
talk is cheap
that's the danger of being words

the actions aren't there
the purpose wasn't there
which means intentions weren't there either.

so my question is
why come back to me?
