Gestures Of Love

by Soulful Ensemble   Jan 23, 2016

With every breath I take one step towards you, my love,
Looking at the stars to find you, up above.
I see you in every hours' minute - in every minutes' second, too,
Waiting semi-patiently; just so eager to see you.

I sense the sweet scent, like flowers, from snuggling close together,
When your fragrance rubs on me, and I wish it would stick forever.
I think of whispers and tender words said,
In a quiet fashion,
That make my heart melt slowly with warmth and passion.

I walk amongst the pretty things; like gardens - skies of blue,
But, though they're beautiful, they could never measure up to you.
I miss you, like guitars without strings, pretty things, and lovers' with rings -
Miss you like that line about the cherry trees in spring.

But not even Neruda could feel this way and live,
When I send you all that's in my heart, leaving nothing more to give.
I love you for your beauty, your sweet ways, your smile,
I love you because I haven't felt this way in a long, long while.

I love you for your laughter, your teasing, the pretty things you say,
I love you for who you are, even when you go away.
And I miss you then, but I sit and write for you,
Hoping that you'll see just how much I love you.
