Nostalgia

by Lily   Feb 2, 2016

Nostalgia is colorblind
She paints the picture wrong
Leaving out the dismal blues
And lingering on yellows too long
Vibrant purples and brightest greens
Show up for more than their share
She almost makes you want to forget
That there were once gray hues there

So when you look back on the past
Be wary that you don't see through
The rose-colored eyes of nostalgia
They'll give you an ignorant view
Sheep in the herd say that this is bliss
Choosing to remember wrong
They may have forgotten or simply not know
That both high and low notes make the song

Hello Lily and welcome to the site.

A great opening poem from you here and a rhyming one too which I particularly like. They seem to be a dying breed.
As for the content, you are right - nostalgia really is a tricky thing, isn't it? It rarely remembers the truth of things!
    All the very best,
    Ben
