Glances

by Yakari Gabriel   Feb 23, 2016

You're the first thing
I ever wanted to keep to myself,
and I am notorious in the secrets
department

a loud mouth, with a sound so clear
you can hear me on the other side
of any building - a heart as transparent
as an Arubian beach,
nothing is ever hidden here

but your voice though,
and those topaz eyes though
and the way they lurk
people in, the way they dance

I was never good at writing
love poems, so I do this
with fear, with caution
ain't anything I could pen
at least half as beautiful as you.
