Demons

by Brookie   Mar 6, 2016

There's always a demon in the room
even with heaven surrounding me,
paradise has never been so close
but still there's a weight i cannot escape.

Every time i see your face the room brightens,
at least twice as bright as it was before
but i guess that doesnt change the creeking
and crawling in my basement floor

Would you be mad if I told you my struggle?
or would you accept what life is like
when every breath you take brings you closer
to the demons that run beneath my scars.

Perfections such a silly thing when its not enough
to keep a smile on a broken down face.
The only thing i can question is when,
when will the next attack begin?

And will you be able to stay by my side
even when the demons close in
and your light fades in this darkness
that is left in their wake?

All i know is every time you hold me
all my fears melt for a moment.

Wow a very powerful write. We all should have that someone who takes away our demons.

The last couplet finished the piece off amazingly.
