Plant Love Not Hate

by Luna   Apr 3, 2016

Build walls around you,
and fight so lousy people don't get through.
Smile,
because when the right one does come around,
they will climb those walls.
They will build a path to your cavern,
And they will embellish it with climbing ivy.
They will drown you in their eyes made of sea.
They will entangle you with so much love
that you will feel constricted.
But all climbers need support,
just like humans do.
Plants start out rooted in the soil, growing as a vine soon after.
Plant your roots far into the ground and never let anyone stop you.

But just remember,

People are a lot like plants;

Some plants are poisonous,

But some plants will help you grow.

Hello I feel that is so true.
There are people that are like ivy and some that help and heal you. I enjoyed reading this poem. :)

A strong root will hold a plant in its place. Ivy is considered a vine that keeps climbing and can get out of control. We often build a wall around us to protect ourselves but love can conquer if. Enjoyed reading. Take care.

Hello Luna and welcome to the site.

What a lovely little first offering from you here and dripping in truths that you have conveyed with excellent metaphors.
This poem could almost be in the 'love' category but it works well here too, because of the constant use of nature metaphor.
I love your description of the ivy climbing the walls you have built to defend yourself and then entangling you 'with so much love'.
Great first write, Luna and I look forward to reading more of your work.

    All the very best
    Ben
