Hello Meena

As a father to a beautiful girl, this poem really hit home. I hate the world we live in often - for so many reasons - and not least for the way its women are treated. Sometimes they degrade and disrespect themselves, more often men disrespect and degrade them and just as often as either of those two, religion degrades them.
However, these 'rituals and traditions' are surely our own twisted views on how we should treat each other and have nothing whatsoever to do with any god that may or may not be present. They are harmful to women and to religion itself.

An honest write and a brave one.

Very powerful write! It is a very sad state of affairs that even in this day and age woman and girls can still be seen as property and sold off and treated as nothing more than an animal. You really did a wonderful job bringing these problems to light.

It is so sad that women have to endure so much because of bigotry and oppression. The road to enlightenment and relief seems such a long one but I think that we are slowly getting there. I admire deeply those women who are able to stand up against oppression and make a difference like Malala Yousafzai. Writing such a poem as this is important because it helps raise awareness. Meena, so much can be said about this sad but very truthful piece. Women seem to endure more throughout life than men do because of religion etc which unfortunate because women give life which is one of the best things we can do.
