Ignorant bliss

by Savannah Hunter   Nov 29, 2016

I slide my back down the cold hard wall;
I swore to myself I'd never let you fall.
Take a deep breath of the harsh, cold air,
Our love with a life like this was never fair.
Lay my head down on my knees,
"Something for the pain?" Yes please.
Memories run across my scattered brain,
So many chances taken in vain.
Open up your heart and let me in,
This is a battle nobody has to win.
Fate is a death threat in the depths of the ground,
All you can do is scream without a sound.
Your tears are your words for only they are true;
Put your walls up and paint them a beautifully sad shade of blue.
Close your eyes and remember; you'll always find your way,
Walk through the halls; you'll remember that dreadful day.
Mascara runs in a stream of tears down my pale colored face,
You can go ahead and escape your demons through a set of silky black lace.
Or maybe pictures on an app in your phone;
Don't mind me, I'll drown myself in your cologne.
I know I should move on but you are still the only one I miss,
Your love I guess; is ignorant bliss.
