The beats of a beautiful morning

The beats of a beautiful morning
By Ziad Dib Jreige
From "The nightingale and his poems of dawn"

I plucked the sleep rose
Before the light was out
A breeze cooled my nose
And blessings did sprout

Then I caught the rays’ spillage
The faint rays of spring dawn
Without the crowded village
And its civilized lawn

Beat after beat I heard
Ray after ray I saw
The beauty of a world
Kissed by nature’s law

What breath had come to me
And blown over my face?
Surely an angel with glee
Was dancing at that place

While the sun gently laid
Warmth on the cool ground
Within the blue sky played
Birds with cheerful sound

Then you came with a smile
So I sang for you out there
To your lovely charming style
Your scent everywhere

“Upon the flowers that smile
Upon the morning river
The honeybees buzzed awhile
And their wings lively quiver

The hours of night that miss
Daily the yellow rays
Have left through dew a kiss
Sparkling in leafy ways

And I leave too for you
A kiss through this breeze
With a passion forever new
That causes hearts to freeze”
