One More Day

by Jared Douglas   Mar 29, 2017

If I only had one more day with you
I'd do all the things you want me to
I'd kiss your feet a thousand times
I'd write to you a thousand lines
I'd tell you more how much you mean to me
If tomorrow was not guaranteed to be
I'd call you all those sweet names I do
My love, my life, my honeydew
I'd hold your hand a little more
I'd tell you that it's you I live for
I'd sing to the heavens of your perfection
And give you all the needed affection
If I only had one more day with which to do
But above all else, I'd say thank you

A warm welcome to the site, Jared.

I often wonder what I would do if I had one more day with those I loved or just one more day in general. It's horrible to acknowledge, but something tells me I just may live more in that solitary day than I might in a lifetime. Anyway, the lesson is to take nothing for granted - especially those dear to us.
    Great early post from you.
    All the best,

    Ben

Unfortunately that was the last day I had with her. I never even got to give her the poem. She left me for someone else the next day.
