I'm sorry

by Beautiful Tragedy   Apr 20, 2017

I've been trying to find the heart the tell you so many things,
but I never got the chance
Because you hit the leave button before I figured out how to tell you
The heartbreaking news that has been
Crumbling me to my battered knees.
And now,
As the earth shakes and the ground crumbles beneath my feet,
I only hope that you see this later rather than sooner.
Heavy with an oncoming storm;
The black clouds roll in turmoil
As heavy raindrops fall from the sky,
Hitting my delicate skin.
With shaky hands I let my tears fall
Blending in with the rain,
Invisible to everyone else but me.
My body racks with the quiet sobs that started the moment the realization finally hit me,
That it is time to move on.
I curl in a ball in the soaking wet grass,
And let the emotions overcome me one by one.
I don't know if it's because we most likely never had a chance at surviving this;
Or if it's because somewhere along the way I realized that
The love we had got lost.
I don't look at you the same way anymore;
And with this truth all of the walls I had
Built up to dam my emotions
Come crashing down and my heart drops in my chest with a disappointed thunk.
So many things run through my mind but as I look up at the dark clouds
Only two tragic words manage to escape my lips.
I'm sorry.

    Hi Beautiful Tragedy

    Such a heart rendering poem. Forgiveness is sometimes all we have, and forgiving ourselves is difficult but healthy deep within.

    Sad beautiful write

      Forgiveness will come in its own time. Right now I'm still dealing with the emotions
