I Do Not Sleep

I do not sleep.

I do not sleep because I think of you.

I cannot sleep because my mind misses the touch of your smile.

I do not sleep because I dream of you.
Because you are always here, and yet, you are not.

Every night you are by my side and yet, you are not.

It's not right that I get to have paradise only as I sleep.

Because when I sleep, you are mine.

But you are not.

And my heart misses the ways your voice would sing it to sleep.

When you speak to me, I only hear angels.
And I wonder how you could be so lost.
To be here with me.

But you are not with me.

So I do not sleep.

I cannot sleep because I love you.

And you are not mine.
