It must be me.

by Justen Smith   Oct 4, 2017

I could see into the past,
As my vision grew blurry,
My stomach was empty,
But suddenly felt full to burst,
I thought I was at peace,
No, pain is all I feel,
Not physical or of the body,
But my soul and my heart,
I always thought it was her,
She was afraid of commitment,
But now she's engaged,
In all this time has she changed,
While the pain she caused,
Has stunted me,
While clearly she felt nothing,
And now my questions move,
Not of why did you do it,
But did I make you cheat,
Am I the awful one,
Who caused your infidelity,
What does it even matter,
For inside I am dead,
Luckily for you old flame,
Murder of the soul is legal

The more I would read the more I could almost feel your emotions.. as I have been cheated on one to many times. I'm sorry you have had to experience this.

"Murder on the soul is legal''
    That alone said so much.

Excellent write, in my opinion. Don't stop writing, please. I rated 5/5
