christmas joy

by Robert Long   Dec 14, 2017

christmas joy
fills the air
and there are smiles
everywhere

red and green
red and white
stockings hung
all in sight

cookies on the table
milk on the side
waiting for santa
to come where i reside

waiting for santa
up on the stairs
down he came
with a swoosh of air

one by one
he pulled them out
put them under the tree
and i wanted to shout

he headed to the stockings
my back against the wall
A smile on his face
as he slowed to a crawl

back up he went
and we headed to bed
and we had dreams
of sugar plums in our head

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and happy new year
